Reminder - August 31, 2008 will be the last day donations can be made to the Relay For Life of Hillsboro 2008.  Donations can be made online or mailed to; ACS/RFL—HILLSBORO 2008 (please note team name), 0330 SW Curry Street, Portland, OR  97329.

Relay For Life of Hillsboro 2009

 

It's never too early to start planning or FUNdraising for the Relay For Life of Hillsboro 2009!  The theme for 2009 is "CHAMPIONS FOR A CURE".  This is a sports theme...you could be a team of ballerinas in tutus, tennis players in tennis whites, or golfers in plaid pants.  Use your imagination!

 

The first Kick-off Party for the 2009 Relay will be held on October 16, 2008.  On this night ONLY, you will be able to register your team for $25.  More information to be coming, so check back! 

 

Do you want to be a part of the 2009 Committee?  If you don't feel you have the time to commit to being on the committee (meets year-round), you could be part of a subcommittee.  We always need help and new ideas!  Please let Capi (capi_rfl@earthlink.net) know your interests, talents, and time availability, and we'll match you up to the perfect job! 

 

 

The Fight Back Express is coming to Oregon!

 

The Great West Division has the honor of hosting the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) Fight Back Express from August 23 to August 27.  The Fight Back Express is a large coach bus that is specially wrapped so that ACS volunteers, cancer survivors and the general public may sign the bus at its various stops to show their support for making cancer a top national priority.

The Fight Back Express has been scheduled to make eight stops in communities across Oregon.  To facilitate this effort, local volunteer committees have been engaged to plan events around the arrival of the bus at each stop, and to generate crowds and media coverage of the bus tour to advance the priorities of ACS CAN.

Currently, plans are being finalized for the respective stops.  Each event will not only showcase the flavor of the local community, but will allow those with an interest in cancer as a public policy issue to “fight back” on behalf of our constituents, whose voices need to be heard during this critical Election year.  You can visit www.acscan.org/bus to see the bus route and event details or follow the daily bus activities.
